Some progress in stopping global warming was achieved at COP26 in Glasgow. But, sadly, progress since then has been very poor.
Instead of focussing on action to help all, many Governments have prioritised action to seek to grow their own economies or to protect citizens from cost of living increases.
With World Leaders gathering for COP27, people are asking what do we want from COP27? What is possible? Is 1.5C still alive?
But people have seen what needs to be done and they haven’t done it. Instead, with us all facing catastrophic global warming – What are we willing to do to help?
1.5C is still critically important. It needs to be the critical test for all policies and actions
Does the action help to achieve 1.5C? if not, then the action needs to be reworked until it does
Many actions were agreed at COP26 or previously. But are these actions happening?
At COP27, it’s time to hold to account ALL organisations for what they have already agreed.
Agreements such as to keep global warming “well below 2C” to cut the use of fossil fuels, to stop deforestation by 2030, to protect of 30% of land and seas by 2030, to cut methane by 30% by 2030 etc etc.
Yes, we need solutions to the Economic Crisis, the Energy Crisis and the Cost of Living Crisis. But the smart opportunity is to make green solutions part of these.
7 years after the Paris Agreement, why is there still so little progress? Because instead of on track for 1.5C, the world is still on track for 2.7C
Why? Because the forces of vested interests, greed and self-interest are so strong. But together we can stop it. By focussing our campaigns at all levels: Government, Big Business, Small Business, and Individuals – people like us
- Use less energy at home
- Travel consciously
- Eat more plant based meals
- Hold Governments and organisations to account
- What we buy – support low environmental impact solutions
- Remove our Carbon Footprint by Planting trees – 250 trees removes around 1 Tonne of CO2 a year
n0co2.org to make it easy for people to take action to stop global warming by planting trees. We have planted over 1,500,000 trees 🌳🌳🌳
We also make it easy for small businesses to go Net Zero, with an easy-to-use template and inspirational message about the opportunity for businesses to be green and be seen to be green.
Whether for business, Government, or to offset air travel, planting trees is still by far the lowest cost way to remove CO2 emissions. By incorporating Carbon Credits we are now creating solutions that deliver potentially high returns for Investors and life-transforming impact for local communities.
