Our Motivation

I think about a young person in the 2050’s.  In the middle of massive climate breakdown.  A World of rising sea levels, failing crops, food shortages, conflict over land, and millions of climate refugees. What on earth were you doing in 2022 to let this happen?  What did you do to help stop climate change?

My children are aged 18 to 23.  What motivates me is the thought that climate change could damage the planet and the future not just of my children, but of EVERYONE across the whole world aged under 30. We could have named N0CO2 No kicking the can down the road!

I planted 3,500 trees back in 2018 and these should remove around 14 Tonnes of CO2 for each year they’re growing.My trees cost under $2 per Tonne of CO2 removed.&nbsp;&nbsp;So why, in the MIT Technology Review should we pay $100 a tonne to remove CO2 by “greenhouse-gas sucking factories” and other tech solutions?It’s simple – we need both:✅&nbsp;We need to plant 1 trillion plus trees today because there's plenty of deforested land and the cost is low - around $2 per Tonne of CO2 removed.✅&nbsp;But we also need mechanical solutions to succeed too – because there is so much CO2 to be removed.&nbsp;&nbsp;✅&nbsp;Because “even if we get carbon dioxide emissions all the way down to zero, the world will not cool back down; it will just stop warming up. Analysis, recriminations and blame about COP26 will go on for weeksDo you want 1.5C Max?&nbsp;&nbsp;Then you will be disappointed.Because the Glasgow Pact “resolves&nbsp;to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 °C.”&nbsp;&nbsp;So 1.5C is “kept alive” but only just.&nbsp;To achieve commitment to 1.5C, the world is now reliant on negotiation at future meetings starting at COP27 in 2022 in Egypt.Unless there are additional and stronger commitments, the “optimistic scenario” – is at best 1.8 ̊C according to the respected Climate Action Tracker. “Glasgow has a massive credibility, action and commitment gap as the world is heading to at least 2.4 ̊C of warming, if not more.”It’s “time to go into emergency mode” was the response&nbsp;of António Guterres, UN Secretary-General.&nbsp;&nbsp;“We are in the fight of our lives.”&nbsp;&nbsp;COP26 President Alok Sharma re-committed himself to 1.5C in the run up to the next COP27 in Egypt in November 2022: “The UK’s work as the Cop26 presidency is really only just beginning,” says Alok Sharma in the Guardian.“The 1.5C limit lives. We brought it back from the brink. But its pulse remains weak.
